Key features of 2025 Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots in Canada

The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots in Canada are set to launch on March 31, 2025. While the pilots carry forward the legacy caregiver programs like Home Child Care Provider Pilot & Home Support Worker Pilot, key new features are as follows:

  • No mandatory Canadian work experience requirements;
  • Applicants need either a recent, relevant work experience (anywhere in the world) or a credential of at least six months of related home care training;
  • Reduced language requirements: Applicants need a level 4 in the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) – Equivalent to IELTS
  • Reduced education requirements: Applicants need a high school diploma;
  • The pilots will have two streams: one for workers already in Canada and another for those not currently working in Canada;
  • Initially, only applications for the Workers in Canada stream will be accepted;
  • Flexible job offer options: Job offers can come from private households or organizations that directly hire full-time home care workers to provide short-term or occasional home care for those who are semi-independent or recovering from an injury or illness. E.g. home health care service providers, home care support service providers, direct care agencies, personal care services in residential settings, pediatric home health care service providers
