NAFTA & Other Treaties

Canada has a no. of treaties with other countries that allow for temporary entry for varying purposes, periods, etc.

These include:
a) North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) – for citizens of USA and Mexico (Provisionally updated and renamed as USMCA)
b) General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) – for citizens of

c) Canada – Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) – for citizens of Chile

These agreements allow for temporary (3 months to 3 years) entry of Professionals, Business visitors, and Intra-company transferees into Canada.
The advantage is a quick entry, in many cases, without the need for employment authorizations, provided specific conditions are met.
