Canada Immigration redefines ‘Dependent children’

May 18, 2013

The Federal government intends to restrict the age of ‘dependent children’ in the future immigration applications.

The proposed changes would lower the maximum age for dependent children to less than 19, from the current 22. It would also remove the current exception for the children above 22, who continue to study full-time.

The changes will affect applications filed after January 1, 2014. Applications being currently  processed by the department are expected to be transitioned.
